Going for a Five?

For those students who are seeking a 5 on the AP exam, simply attending class will not be enough.  You will need to do some work out side of class.  This means watching some more lectures on your own time.  The videos can be QUITE long, however the material in them is amazing.  It was created by the goddess of chemistry, Rene McCormick, a teacher from Texas with stellar AP Chemistry exam pass rates who has also served on the text creation committee.  I do not expect you to sit though them all at once, however you should watch a little each night.  When I learned the material I would do 10 to 15 minute segments, which is what I recommend.

Something a little different here.  The goddess is about to teach you the integrated rate law, which can only be determined experimentally and by graphing data.  Since not all student could afford a graphing calculator, the graphing aspect of the exam was removed from the AP test.  This means that the test, and therefore I, will provide you with graphs of the data done by the three methods Ms. McCormick describes and you will have to interpret that data, utilize the graphs, and make inferences based off the correct one.  It will not hurt you to know how to graph on your calculator, however if you wish you may skip that segment of the video to when she discribes that graphs and what they mean.

You do need to know mechanisms however.
