Unit 9 begins with a quick run down of solutions, homogenous mixtures of two or more substances. Solutions have an equal distribution of particles throughout, like the air you're breathing, or the soda you're drinking. We finished this lesson by examining and reading solubility curves. |

We continued into unit 9 by discussing the various units of concentration. Since solutions vary in reactivity based on the solute, tracking the concentration of that solute is key to any chemical experiment. |
The final lesson in unit 9 deals with how solutions differ in their physical properties from that of the solvent. Known as colligative properties, these values change based not on what is in solution but on how many particles or ions it produces. We also talked about the different types of solutions. Those ideas are best summed up in the Ted-Ed video about the science of mararoni salad. |
