Unit 4: Chemical Reactions
During the next few period we will cover signs of a chemical change, balancing chemical reactions, stoichiometry, and types of chemical reactions. There is a LOT of math, so make your calculator is charged and your mental math is keen. Lets do it!

To begin this unit we reviewed chemical and physical properties. We finished it with balancing chemical reactions which is a critical skill in chemistry. You will need LOT of practice, so when you are done take to the internet and see if you can find some more practice. |
Unit 4.2 is very short, as we only cover net ionic equations. You will need to remember your solubility rules and have a good grasp of balancing. |

Easily the most tested skill in chemistry is being able to determine the yield of a reaction from the mass of products. In this video we cover traditional stoichiometry by the factor label method. Below are some of the other ways to do mass to mass stoichiometry, choose a method that makes sense to you. |

In first year chem., we discussed the five types of chemical reactions based on the patterns of reactants and products. In AP chem. we classify reactions based on their outcomes. In this sub-unit we will cover 2 of the 3 types of chemical reactions: precipitation reactions, and acid-base reactions. We will discuss redox reactions in our next subunit. |

In the final lesson of unit 4 we briefly discuss RedOx reactions. This subject we revisit in unit 9, however a precursory understanding at this point is needed to complete our discussion of types of chemical reactions. |
