Make sure at the end of each sub-unit that you complete your personal progess check on APClassroom.
We began chemical bonding by talking about metallic and ionic bonds.  Metallic bonds make up the alloys and metals you see around, but beyond their structure you're not responsible for much.  The real meat of this lesson is on ionic compounds, their properties and nomenclature.  You'll need to buckle down and memorize some polyatomic ions in order to complete this unit.  Use the Quizlet below to help.

Polyatomic Ion Flashcards

While metals and salts make up some of the world around you, the vast majority of the matter in your life is comprised of covalent compounds.   In our second class of unit two we covered covalent compound nomenclature and lewis structures.  You will need to know a compounds lewis stucture in order to understand it's hybridization and molecular geometry, so make sure by the end of the lesson you are able to complete those objectives.

Our final lesson in unit two covers VSEPR model.  You will need to be able to determine a molecules geometry, and bond angle if you hope to understand intermolecular forces in the next unit.  Towards that end, the link below will take you to some flash cards of VSEPR geometries based off of a molecules hybridization.

After this lesson you'll need to complete the personal progress check for Unit 2.  This will be a quiz grade, so do your best.  Earning a score that is highlighted in yellow will earn you a 3/5, light green will net you a 4/5, but get that coveted green and you'll get earn a 5/5
