In case you missed class here are the lecture videos and relevant materials
|
The first video, produced by the American Chemistry Society, provides ALL the lab safety knowledge you will need to know to work in the chemistry room. Though it is long, it is EXTREMELY entertaining. Be sure to watch it all the way through, and learn how to handle yourself in the lab. |
Our first day of class we went over key safety procedures and protocols. Make sure you watch the entire "Starting with safety" video, and here is a brief overview of the lesson. |

The next day in class we went over an introduction to chemistry. This included classification of matter, units, density, and participle sketches. In addition to the lecture we also watched this animated video about the size and shape of atoms. |
On the third day of class we completed the density lab, which as long as you have an excused absence you will not need to make up.
|
The fourth day of unit 1 we took the unit 1 quiz, which has us:
-Determine volume of an object -Find an objects density -Identify an object by it’s density -What other metal is in the alloy? You will need to make this up before the end of the week |
Our last class in unit 1, we explored scientific investigation, significant figures, and scientific notation. We also did a brief introduction to the families on the periodic table. Next class we will be taking our unit 1 test. Make sure you've completed the unit 1 homework which is due when you take the test.

|
If you have misplaced your homework it is YOUR responsibility to reprint it, and turn in a bubble sheet. Homework will not be graded on any other medium .
(meaning if you turn in a piece of loose leaf with answers on it, that will not be graded) |
