Make sure at the end of each sub-unit that you complete your personal progess check on APClassroom.
On the first day of class we went over lab safety, by watching the video "Starting with Safety" by the American Chemistry Society (ACS). Please make sure to watch the entire video, and be able to apply the lesson in class and lab |

Our second day of class saw us go over the mole and molar conversions, by far one of the most critical parts of chemistry. This is AP sub-units 1.1, & 1.2 |
The third day of class saw us going over empirical and molecular formulas. We also began our first lab, to determine the formula of an unknown copper chloride hydride. Watching the video will allow you to keep up with the classwork, but you will need to find a classmate to work with on the lab |

Next we covered atomic structure and photoelectron spectroscopy. We utilized first ionization energy to discuss electron configuration and orbital diagrams. We ended by going over magnetism. |
Our final lesson for unit 1 is on periodic trends. Typically this topic will either be the easiest multiple choice questions, or the hardest free response questions on the AP Chem exam. That is because as a free response they need to be answered a very specific way. Watch the lecture and practice your FRQ skills. After this lesson you'll need to complete the personal progress check for Unit 1. This will be a quiz grade, so do your best. Earning a score that is highlighted in yellow will earn you a 3/5, light green will net you a 4/5, but get that coveted green and you'll get earn a 5/5 |
